Export Excel Data to AutoCad DXF Files Sometimes you have some data (usually lists of points or vertices) in an Excel file and want to make a DXF file of lines and points from this data. Maybe the data comes from a GIS device or from some calculation. The quickest way to create your DXF file is to copy the block of Excel data using the Windows clipboard and paste it into Pointor, see the diagram below: Although we are talking about Excel and AutoCAD here you can copy the data from any program which contains a table of points and read the DXF file with any CAD program which accepts DXF files. Pointor supports many formats, and you can try your own with the free demo available here. If you have a format which is not supported just contact me and I'll see if I can help. Below are some more screenshots illustrating Excel to DXF conversions. The first one shows the dialog for choosing the format of your data: The screenshot below shows the options you have for the DXF file you'll save: The program works in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. You don't have to use the Windows clipboard, you can directly read .CSV files for example. Finally here is a screenshot of the DXF file as viewed in Pointor: So, there you have it, copy and paste and then save, and your DXF file is ready to use! Try the demo then buy the full version ($69.99).

After appalling technical support from my credit card handler Verifone I've decided to stop selling Pointor. It may become available as charityware. (c)
